Attorney, Partner, Specialized lawyer for banking and capital market law, commercial and company law
Since 2003, Dr. Susanne Schmidt-Morsbach has been a member of Schirp & Partner and became a partner in 2014. Her professional focus is on capital investment, company and insolvency law. In addition to her qualification as a specialist attorney for banking and capital market law, Dr. Schmidt-Morsbach holds the title of specialist attorney for commercial and company law and works in the specialist committee of the lawyers’ chamber. Within the last few years, she has been involved in the successful reorganization of many closed-end funds and has thus been able to avert substantial losses from investors. She has a wide range of advisory mandates and has been able to gather experience as a prosecutor in hundreds of court cases. Dr. Schmidt-Morsbach was often elected as joint representative of bond holders. In 2015, Dr. Schmidt-Morsbach, together with professional colleagues, founded the VGVD, the Verband Gemeinsamer Vertreter Deutschland e.V., of which she has also been the chair since then. This first professional association of joint representatives serves interests representation, further education and quality assurance.
Dr. Schmidt-Morsbach gained her first professional experience as a consultant in a large German consulting company. Prior to her admission to the bar in 2000, she was a doctoral fellow at the Chair of Commercial and Company Law and Insurance Law at Technische Universität Berlin. In addition to law, Dr. Schmidt-Morsbach studied economics at Freie Universität Berlin, at Albert-Ludwig-Universität in Freiburg and at Université Stendhal in Grenoble, where she graduated with the Diplôme de Droit Français. She completed her legal clerkship with stations in Berlin and Lübeck at the tax office and the fiscal court as well as at consulting coporate law firms.
Dr. Schmidt-Morsbach has published numerous articles in professional journals on insurance and company law, is co-author of the “Berliner Kommentar zum Versicherungsvertragsrecht” and regularly holds lectures on insurance, commercial and company law.
